Flight time and what's included

All our flights are approximately one hour. This can be a little longer or shorter due to weather, safety considerations or landing site availability. All takeoff and landing decisions are the final decision of the pilot in command.

Timing of Flights

During the Summer months we strongly recommend morning flights due to the heat and the better chance of smooth weather. In the Spring, Fall and Winter months we fly morning and evening flights.

Balloons fly right at sunrise and two hours before sunset to get the best weather possible for a flight.

We typically fly on weekends year-round. Weekday flights may be accommodated with prior scheduling if pilots are available.

Passenger Limitations

Hot air balloons are weight limited depending on the size of the balloon and the outside temperature.

Palmetto Sun balloons believes in a private experience for our passengers, so most of our balloons only take 2-3 passengers. We do have larger balloons available for larger parties if requested.

Passengers should be able to stand for the entire flight and not have any recent surgeries or illnesses that would prevent them from fully participating in the flight.

What to wear/bring

Comfortable, weather appropriate clothes are always the best option. Closed toes shoes are highly recommended since we tend to be in fields and areas where open toed shoes are not the best option.

Hats to protect from the heat from the burner and sunglasses are good options.

Shorts are ok, but remember, we may be in fields and areas where there may be tall grass, briars, etc.

Don't forget your camera!

Water will be provided during and after the flight.

Our primary flying area is in the Simpsonville, SC area but we regularly fly in Anderson, SC and Shelby, NC.

We participate in balloon events all over the country and the upcoming events list is on our main page.

Company Policies

All passengers must be physically and mentally healthy enough to participate in the flight.
No passenger may be intoxicated or otherwise under the influence of any drug or alcohol.
Passengers must be able to stand for the full planned hour of the flight.
Medical devices (e.g. oxygen concentrator) may be approved on a case by case basis.
Payment is required prior to flight. Venmo, Zelle, Bitcoin and cash are accepted forms of payment. Credit Cards will incur a $10 fee.
All passengers must sign the flight waiver prior to the flight.
Gift Certificates are NOT refundable but are transferrable and expire two years from date of purchase. If they are not used within one year from the date of purchase, they are subject to a price change if there is a difference between the gift certificate and the current pricing.

The pilot will contact you 2 days prior to the flight to confirm all of the last minute details and check the weather. If the weather is not good for flying you can rebook with no penalty. Please note that all flights are weather dependent and the pilot has the final say on whether to fly or not. If the weather is not flyable on your chosen day, you may choose to rebook your flight at a future date or receive a refund.

Flight times are at the discretion of the pilot and are typically at sunrise or 1-2 hours before sunset. These times change throughout the year so please confirm your flight and arrival times before your flight.

Cancellation Policies

Cancellation prior to 7 days before flight is 100% refundable

Cancellation from 7-2 days before flight is 50% refundable

Cancellation the day of flight is 0% refundable

Weather cancellation will result in rescheduling or 100% refund regardless of timing.
